About me
I am a seasoned PMO- and Program Director, who is passionate about driving project/program and portfolio effectiveness. In various consulting, project, program, portfolio and PMO roles I led teams to success.
I am known to be a highly energetic, results driven, empathic, collaborative executive – and I get things done. Everything I do is with intrinsic passion, and I do it well. I have built multiple PMO teams, and worked with many leadership teams to make them more productive.
I deliver leadership team alignment workshops, trainings and study groups in project/program/portfolio/change management and I coach individuals to get the most out of them. I work with you to understand your needs and pain points, and to design a tailored improvement program to help your organization address these.

My experience
After studying biomedical sciences, I started my career in pharma where I developed a strong process improvement and project profile. I joined Accenture as a consultant after completing my MBA, where I traveled around the globe serving multiple international pharmaceutical clients.
Next I started as business improvement manager at AkzoNobel in the commercial area. After multiple interim roles I managed the project portfolio of the commercial leadersip team as strategic PMO. Next I did a similar PMO role in the integrated supply chain part of the organization, where I got more and more involved in the overall transformation program of the company. A natural next step was to join the enterprise PMO team that was supporting the key projects and programs from the transformation office. In the team I got promoted to the global director, managing a highly capable and international pool of 36 project and program managers.
The initiation and management of the companywide project management improvement program was next, in which we brought together our project community of over 3000 professionals through an ambassador network of about 250 people. One global community to serve one purpose: learning from each other, and jointly increasing the output of our projects and programs. Many standards, trainings, toolboxes and tools have been developed under my leadership.
In 2023 I started my own company Suzan Haenen Consulting B.V., to be able to fully focus on my passion: advising companies in getting better results through improved project and program management expertise!
